i have listened to the album a hundreds of times and i agree the cover should have a much darker theme to it.
but the kid on the cover is him and i was going more based of his definition on thug which was coming from nothing
and still making it somewhere. so i based this cover off the title and his definition rather then sound or atmosphere of the album. the idea of him as a kid on the cover holding the older him by the hand is that he is still the person he was and like the quote “i came from the gutter and im still here” it shows there’s still that connection and that he remembers the struggle and the fact that he was in his early 20’s at the time of the release and he was always surprised he made it that far according to his family explains he smile.
